The subject of this thesis is the development of new services based on the fifth generation of mobile networks (5G) which are expected to improve various aspects of daily life in modern residential communities, and the development of the appropriate business models that are in such cases applicable to the mobile operator. Superior performances of the 5G network, together with Internet of Things and other advanced information technologies, create a number of new innovation possibilities in different domains, including the smart city. At the same time, this is an opportunity for the mobile operator to step out of its traditional role, to offer new services, in addition to the communication infrastructure, and to generate new revenue, either independently or through various partnerships. The central topic considered in this thesis is the evaluation of the opportunities for the development of innovative and sustainable business models, both for the operator and for other participants in the newly formed ecosystems of smart residential communities. The goal of the paper is realized through the development of business models for the contribution of the mobile operator in two proposed 5G-based scenarios related to responsible consumption. The survey conducted in the experimental part of the thesis evaluates the readiness of citizens to accept new services that the operator could offer in the ecosystem of a smart residential community, and the factors that could influence their decision, and thus the success and sustainability of the corresponding operator’s business model. Particular analysis is dedicated to the impact that the blockchain based loyalty program could have on the acceptance of new services.

Предмет ове докторске дисертације je развој нових сервиса заснованих на петој генерацији мобилних мрежа (5G) који могу да унапреде различите аспекте живота у савременим стамбеним заједницама и одговарајућих пословних модела који су у том случају применљиви на пословање мобилног оператора. Високе перформансе 5G мреже, заједно са интернетом интелигентних уређаја и другим напредним информационим технологијама, отварају бројне нове могућности за иновације у различитим доменима, укључујући паметни град. Истовремено, то је и прилика за мобилног оператора да искорачи из своје традиционалне улоге и осим комуникационе инфраструктуре, самостално или кроз различита партнерства, понуди нове услуге и оствари нове приходе. Централни проблем који је разматран у овој докторској дисертацији је испитивање могућности за развој иновативних и одрживих пословних модела, како за оператора, тако и за друге учеснике у новоформираним екосистемима паметних стамбених заједница. Циљ дисертације реализован је кроз развој пословних модела за учешће мобилног оператора у два предложена сценарија која се односе на одговорну потрошњу, а ослањају се на могућности 5G мреже. Кроз истраживање спроведено у експерименталном делу рада испитана је спремност грађана за прихватање нових сервиса које би оператор могао да понуди у екосистему паметне стамбене заједнице, као и фактори који би могли да утичу на њихову одлуку, а самим тим и на успех и одрживост одговарајућег пословног модела оператора. Као посебан аспект обрађен је утицај који би програм лојалности заснован на blockchain технологији могао да има на прихватање нових сервиса.
