Social Feminine Titles In Public Discourse In Republic Of Serbia And Corpus-Based Research Of Word Formation

Summary The subject of this paper are the social feminine titles in the Serbian Web Corpus PDRS 1.0 corpus, created within the framework of the Public Discourse in the Republic of Serbia project. Subcorpora related to the endings -(k)inja, -ka and -ica were excerpted in order to investigate the qualitative and quantitative status of derivatives for social feminine titles formed with such suffixes, which we would compare with the results of previous research. In accordance to previous results, -(k)inja suffix was productive in forming new words of this type. Surprisingly, even though the -ica and -ka suffixes are more productive in general, that was not the case with newer social feminine titles. Nevertheless, -ica and -inja offered an alternative to the -(š)kinja ending some people find strange. However, certain practical problems related to working with corpora arose, and this presented an opportunity to bring attention to some of them in order to make future research easier to conduct. The main problems concerned the size of the (sub)corpus, the mistakes in recoding specific Serbian letters, and multiple duplicates of concordances. Checking to see that the different corpora match on relevant characteristics would make them mutually comparable. Keeping detailed research logs and making them available to the public would make the results verifiable and replicable.
Предмет овог рада јесу мовирани фемининуми у корпусу Serbian Web Corpus PDRS 1.0, креираном у оквиру пројекта Јавни дискурс у Републици Србији. Из њега су ексцерпирани поткорпуси везани за завршетке -(к)иња, -ка и -ица како би се на основу њих могао истражити квалитативни и квантитативни статус изведеница за женска лица које су творене таквим суфиксима, што бисмо упоредили с ранијим истраживањима сличног усмерења. Током истраживања су се пак јавили одређени практични проблеми везани за рад с корпусима, те ће овај рад на примеру мовираних фемининума експлицирати неке од њих како би будућа истраживања била једноставнија за спровођење, али и како би добијени резултати били међусобно самерљиви и репликабилни.
