The Role Of Folk Song And Short Speech Forms In The Setting Of Natural Vocal Techniques Of Primary School Students

Summary This paper deals with the basic elements of vocal technique based on folk song and short speech forms, which affect the efficiency of the vocal apparatus, the quality of vocal habits and skills, and the efficiency in memorizing songs that include movement. The idea is to actively approach the singing potential of the child, in whose development we introduce known cognitive patterns that he/she already possesses in language acquisition and tie them more tightly alongside the simultaneous work on motor and psychophysical development. By using the specific methodical procedures, we act upon a certain phase of vocal development, in which the child is, pulling the musical maturing into the zone of further development, which can result in the acceleration of musical development. More is being written about the importance and role of vocal development linked to language development in the light of the linguistic discipline – musicolinguistics based on modern neuromusical research; another aspect that we will cover herewith is integrative teaching. Hence the two-fold goal of our work. The theoretical part of the work is aimed at highlighting the importance of working on networked linguistic and musical content related to folk songs. In the empirical part of the work, Empirical and methodological solutions are presented in the empirical part of the article, all gathered during the work at the music workshop Free your voice - sing the songs of the homeland, held in 2022 at the Vuk Karadžić Scientific and Educational Cultural Center in Tršić. Students aged 7 to 15 (N=192), from different countries (Switzerland, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Great Britain and Slovenia), participated in the Summer in the Homeland project, which was supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and technological development of the Republic of Serbia. The expected results set at the beginning, have encouraged us to analyse and publish the results that were visible during our participation at the music workshop for children who learn Serbian as their native language in supplementary school, as well as during the final ceremony of all project participants. In this part of the work, we highlighted the coupling of vocal and language development. Our emphasis is particularly on selected orthoepic exercises used in conjunction with active and passive breathing in the form of short stories with elements of dramatic play as a methodological procedure. The results are encouraging and represent one of the ways in which extracurricular practice includes previous theoretical and empirical experiences in a methodical approach and modernizes the educational process. Scientifically based theoretical starting points in the work on vocal technique, based on traditional folk songs and short linguistic expressions (quizzes, proverbs, sayings, riddles, quizzes and puzzles) were systematized and suggestions were given for the future work of supplementary schools within the musical activities of students. Indirectly, we see the methodological implications of this work in the modernized integrative approach, especially when the contents of musical culture, native and second foreign language and literature lessons are combined.
Сажетак: У раду се бавимо oсновним елементима вокалне технике ослоњеним на кратке говорне форме и народну песму, уз покрет. Природном певачком потенцијалу ученика приступамо на разноврсне начине, укључујући познате когнитивне обрасце већ стечене у усвајању језика. О значају и улози вокалног развоја умреженог у токове језичког развоја пише се све више у светлу лингвистичке дисциплине музиколингвистике, са ослонцем на савремена неуромузичка истраживања, али и са аспекта интегративне наставе. Због тога циљ рада усмеравамо двоструко: теоријски део посвећен је расветљавању значаја који народна песма има у музичком образовању детета; у емпиријском делу рада представљамо искуства, методичка решења и примере настале у раду музичке радионице Пусти глас-певај песме завичаја, која је била изведена 2022. године у Научно-образовном културном центру "Вук Караџић" у Тршићу, за ученике српских допунских школа из неколико земаља (Швајцарска, Италија, Грчка, Словенија, Велика Британија, Немачка и Француска). Резултати рада у музичкој радионици усмеравају даљи рад и кристалишу музичке садржаје који истовремено подстичу језички и музички развој. Научно утемељена теоријска полазишта у раду-на вокалној техници са ослонцем на традиционалну народну песму и кратке језичке умотворине (брзалице, пословице, изреке, загонетке, питалице и разбрајалице), обједињене су у форми певања песама и извођења народних игара са певањем, са неким елементима метода драмске игре. Методичка решења у оквиру музичке радионице систематизована су и дати предлози за унапређивање рада летњих школа за српску дијаспору. Посредно, ова врста рада у основношколској пракси у Србији може утицати на методичке импликације важне у сагледавању најефикаснијег пута у оквиру рада на вокалној техници, као и у оквиру интегративног приступа музичкој настави.
