Summary The paper presents possible strategies of getting to know the Serbian medieval monasteries through exploration adapted for children of preschool and younger school age. The examples illustrate the possibilities of getting to know interesting facts of the monastery founders’ lives and the historical circumstances in which a monastery was built, the possibilities of researching the monastery area, and coconstructing stories that preserve the material traces of the past, interpreting the icons and the frescoes through the biblical narrative to which they correspond, bearing in mind that each one of these approaches can be intertwined with the creative action as the highest level of children’s participation in the process.

Сажетак: У раду се износе могуће стратегије истраживачког упознавања српских средњовековних манастира прилагођене деци предшколског и млађег школског узраста. На примерима се илуструју могућности упознавања занимљивости из живота ктитора и историјских прилика у којима је манастир настајао, истраживања манастирског простора и конструисања прича које чувају материјални трагови прошлости, разумевања манастирских икона и фресака кроз библијски наратив са којим кореспондирају, имајући у виду да се сваки од ових приступа може прожимати стваралачким учешћем као највишим нивоом дечјег суделовања у процесу.
