Теорија стадијума огледала је полазни и централни појам који лежи у основи Лакановог разумевања психоанализе. Упућујући на њега тежио је да одговори на питања којима се бави и овај рад: Ко је и како настаје субјекат самосвести? Какве импликације имају конститутивни феномени огледања на одређене клиничке ентитете? И како нам та знања помажу у психотерапијском третману? Посреди је кључни моменат психолошког конституисања субјектовог (нарцистичког и дискурзивног) Ега, ког Лакан сматра претходницом сваког потоњег психопатолошког исхода (неуротично-психотично). Лакан нуди појашњење клинички релевантних импликација стадијума огледала, те развија оригиналну концепцију о динамици психичког. Наиме, он тврди да се усвајањем имага субјекат отуђује од примарне фрагментисаности сопственог тела, чиме бива успостављена нарцистичка идентификација са тоталитетом другог. Усвајањем говора и ступањем у Симболички поредак, субјекат ће се још једном отуђити, што се догађа услед секундарне идентификације са говорећим Другим. У раду ће детаљно бити представљена L схема, јер је њено познавање од изузетне важности за разумевање Лаканове теорије. С тим у вези ће посебна пажња бити посвећена специфичној терминологији – субјекат S, објекат мало а, мало а' и велико А. Такође, биће приказан Лаканов допринос разумевању нарцизма, жеље, трансфера и психозе. У тумачењу ових, пре свега клиничких феномена, важно је имати у виду стадијум огледала, те ће с тим у вези опсежно бити образложени Граф жеље и Потпун дијаграм. Теоријски допринос овог рада је двојак: он нуди детаљно, критичко излагање Лаканове обимне и захтевне теорије уопште, са посебним освртом на његово схватање стадијума огледала; истовремено, рад настоји да пружи једну нову, првенствено клиничку перспективу разумевања Лакановог учења.

The mirror stage is a central and fundamental concept that forms the basis of Lacan’s understanding of psychoanalysis. Drawing on this concept, Lacan aimed to answer the questions addressed also by this thesis: who is the subject as self-consciousness and how does it arise? What are the implications of the phenomena constituent of mirroring on certain clinical entities? How can this knowledge assist a psychotherapeutic treatment? The issue at hand here is a key point in the psychological construction of the subject’s (narcissistic and discursive) Ego, which Lacan believes to be antecedent to any latter psychopathological (neurotic-psychotic) outcome. Lacan offers a clarification of the clinically relevant implications of the mirror stage, and develops an original conceptualisation of the dynamics of the psyche. Namely, he considers the adoption of imago to form the subject’s alienation from the primary fragmentation of the subject’s own body, and a narcissistic identification with the totality of the other. Subsequently, through speech development and ascension to the Symbolic order, another form of alienation follows, this time due to the secondary identification with the speaking Other. This thesis will offer a detailed presentation of the schema-L, the knowledge of which is extremely important in understanding Lacan’s theory. Relatedly, the thesis will attend to the specificities of Lacan’s terminology: subject S, object little a, little a’ and big A. It will also illustrate Lacan’s contribution to narcissism, desire, transfer, and psychosis. In interpreting these primarily clinical phenomena, it is equally important to consider the mirror stage, thus the Graph of Desire and Complete Diagram will also be extensively explained. This thesis has a dual theoretical contribution: it offers a detailed, critical examination of Lacan’s comprehensive and challenging theory in general, with a review of his understanding of the mirror stage in particular; concomitantly, the thesis aims to provide a novel, primarily clinical, perspective through which to understand Lacan’s thought.
