Сажетак: Рад анализира интертекстуалне релације романа Бихорци Ћамила Сијарића са тра- диционалним веровањима као што су писање записа, гатање помоћу пасуља, веровања о животињама и биљкама као и бројним другим веровањима која имају своју специфичну праксу на поднебљу о ком Сијарић пише, али су утемељена на словенским митолошким веровањима. Рад посматра и обичаје везане за Илиндан и Ђурђевдан описане у роману. Рад показује какав контекст описана веровања добијају у тексту романа и на који начин њихово спомињање учествује у грађењу атмосфере, простора и карактеризацији ликова.

Summary: In ‘Bihorci’, Sijarić tells the story of characters living in a transitional period – between two World wars, a period between the traditional and modern. These characters are well-founded in tradition. They grew up with it, they live with it and do not know any other way of living. Sijarić tried to capture that moment of transition when the traditional man has to be affected by the modern. He builds his novel around the following question: How much is tradition, although the basis for these characters, still present? The text of the novel communicates with many sorts of the traditional, forming poetic citations. It appears that the characters follow tradition only formally. It seems that Sijarić is also building a story about the necessity of changing and gradual rejection of tradition. Sijarić wants to show that even in an isolated mountain village, where there are almost no external influences, interpersonal relations have to become all the more selfish with time which makes the feeling of community jeopardised. At the same time, paradoxically, Sijarić’s novel is not traditional. The elements of parodic distortion of traditional views, their resemantics and mostly humour ranging from irony to black humour, make this novel overly modern. By problematising the moral and valuable aspects of the lives of Bihorci, and even the moral aspect of the religious practice, Sijarić establishes a critical distance toward the traditional world and cannot accept all of its aspects.
