Atmosphere, as a spatial-emotional phenomenon in architecture, raises numerous questionswithin the architectural discourse and thus represents a problem that needs to be interpreted in thecontext of protection and presentation of architectural heritage. In contemporary architecturalpractice, more and more architects base their design positions on building the atmosphere. Theirarchitectural design approaches and attitudes are based on philosophical-theoretical interpretations ofthe concept of atmosphere in architecture as a theoretical-metaphorical concept translated fromphilosophical to architectural discourse. However, the topic of building and perceiving theatmosphere is not critically considered enough in architectural theory and practice, and historicalbuildings and places are not valorized from the aspect of atmosphere preservation. Thus, the valuesof these buildings are not adequately presented, indicating the research topic's relevance, both from atheoretical and a practical point of view. The problem of identification, evaluation, restoration, andpresentation of atmosphere generators as sources for assessing the authenticity and integrity and astangible and intangible elements of the spirit of place, arose due to projects focusing on internationaladopted charters and documents in the field of cultural heritage and preserving the visualcharacteristics of architecture, neglecting the intangible aspects of the atmosphere.The research examines the issues of restoration and preservation of the atmosphere inarchitecture as a condition for more complex and adequate projects for the presentation ofarchitectural heritage. The main aim of the research is to rethink theories and principles ofcontemporary preservation and presentation of architectural heritage and to redefine the concept ofatmosphere in architecture and to revaluate it and formulate proposals for improving the presentationand interpretation of tangible and intangible values of historic buildings and spaces. This would implypossible solutions to overcome the inconsistencies between the established conservation requirementsand the fluid flows of contemporary architectural design, ensuring the improvement and continuityof the development of protected buildings and spaces with atmospheric qualities. Proposals andrecommendations for improving the methodology of recognizing, evaluating, and revivingatmospheric generators through the presentation and interpretation of historic buildings and spaceswere based on the analysis of atmospheric generators of representative protected family houses(villas) of the socio-cultural elite built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Belgrade. Thedissertation establishes a connection between the philosophical background of architecture andcontemporary architectural design practice, reflecting all this innovatively and originally on thetheory and practice of preserving architectural heritage, which implies that this research aspiresimportance to the national professional public as to the international one.

Атмосфера, као просторно-емоционална појава у архитектури, покреће бројна питања уоквиру архитектонског дискурса, а самим тим представља проблем који је неопходнотумачити у контексту заштите и презентације градитељског наслеђа. У савременојархитектонској пракси све присутније су архитекте које ауторске позиције базирају на грађењуатмосфере, а пројектантске приступе и ставове темеље на филозофско-теоријскиминтерпретацијама појма атмосфере у архитектури, као теоријско-метафоричног појма који јеиз филозофског преведен у архитектонски дискурс. Тема грађења и перципирања атмосференедовољно је критички разматрана у архитектонској теорији и пракси, те историјске грађевинеи простори који су под заштитом нису валоризовани с аспекта њеног очувања, а самим тиме,ни вредности ових грађевина нису презентоване на адекватан начин, што указује на актуелносттеме истраживања, како са теоријског, тако и са практичног аспекта. Проблем идентификације,вредновања, обнове и презентације генератора атмосфере у архитектури, као извора запроцену аутентичности и интегритета, односно као материјалних и нематеријалних елеменатадуха места историјских грађевина и простора, појављује се услед фокусирања међународнихусвојених повеља и докумената у области заштите културног наслеђа на перципирање иочување визуелних карактеристика архитектуре, занемарујући нематеријалне аспектеатмосфере.Истраживање се бави питањима обнове и очувања атмосфере у архитектури, као условаза комплексније и адекватније пројекте презентације градитељског наслеђа. Основни циљистраживања је да се преиспитивањем кључних теорија и принципа савремене заштите ипрезентације градитељског наслеђа, као и редефинисањем појма атмосфере у архитектури ињеном ревалоризацијом, формулишу предлози за унапређење презентације и интерпретацијематеријалних и нематеријалних вредности историјских грађевина и простора, кроз активирањегенератора атмосфере. То би имплицирало могућа решења за превазилажење недоследностиизмеђу утемељених конзерваторских захтева и флуидних токова савременог пројектовања,чиме би се обезбедило унапређење и континуитет развоја заштићених грађевина и просторакоји поседују атмосферске квалитете. Предлози и препоруке за унапређење методологијепрепознавања, вредновања и оживљавања генератора атмосфере у презентацији иинтерпретацији историјских грађевина и простора, формулисани су на основу анализегенератора атмосфере репрезентативних заштићених породичних кућа (вила) грађанскедруштвено-културне елите, изграђених крајем XIX и почетком XX века у Београду.Дисертација успоставља везу између филозофских поставки архитектуре и савремене праксеархитектонског пројектовања, све то рефлектујући на иновативан и оригиналан начин натеорију и праксу очувања градитељског наслеђа, што имплицира да ово истраживање поредзначаја у националној стручној јавности претендује да има и међународни допринос.
