ABSTRACT During an outbreak of trichinellosis in the village of Pozezeno, Veliko Gradiste, Serbia, specific anti-Trichinella antibodies were confirmed in 26 out of 28 persons suspected of having trichinellosis (National Reference Laboratory for Trichinellosis NRLT-INEP). The source of infection was a traditional meat product infected with T. spiralis (7 LPG, EURLP, ISS, Rome, It). The clinical picture of the patients was mild without complications and there were no inpatients. Fifteen out of 26 people infected with T. spiralis consented to participate in the study of monitoring the humoral and cellular immune response.
