Претња ратом у савременим условима веома је актуелан друштвени проблем који захтева свестрану научну анализу. Уочавајући празнину у постојећој литератури, овом дисертацијом се настоји заузети холистички приступ у истраживању проблема трансформације рата. Значај свеобухватног теоријског приступа истраживању савремених форми рата произилази из чињенице да се оваквим приступом проучава нови и недовољно истражени феномен о коме су потребна шира знања која се могу добити само у оквирима различитих теоријских полазишта. Научна анализа феномена „хибридног ратовања“ представља погодан оквир за разматрање природе проблема рата, кроз уочавање битних карактеристика као концепта, чиме се последично отвара проблем научнотеоријског разматрања и феномена савременог рата односно његових појавних облика. Разматрање феномена хибридног вођења рата са позиција различитих и сукобљених теоријских полазишта доприноси добијању ширих сазнања не само о њему већ и савременим формама рата уопште. Предмет истраживања, у односу на временски аспект, односи се на период од почетка Хладног рата до данас. Са просторног аспекта предмет истраживања се односи на праксу различитих држава у савременој међународној заједници, тј. на читаву међународну заједницу. Истраживању овог специфичног феномена потребно је приступити мултиметодски, кроз анализирање расположивих и новонасталих извора података. Доминира квалитативни истраживачки дизајн, док је неадекватна теоријска заснованост довела до експлоративног истраживања. Студијом случаја је обухваћен конкретан проблем/случај – анексија Крима 2014. године, у циљу утврђивања сазнајно-експланаторног потенцијала анексије Крима у проучавању хибридног начина ратовања. Свеукупно, резултати истраживања омогућили су долажење до нових научних сазнања о феномену трансформације савременог рата у смислу научне дескрипције и објашњења истраживаног феномена. Такође, истраживање је пружило допринос у превенцији будућих конфликата, с обзиром да је указало на одређене недостатке у примени поједних одредби међународног ратног и хуманитарног права на савремене „хибридне ратове“, и понудило смернице за нормативно унапређење ове области.

The threat of war in modern conditions is a very current social problem that requires comprehensive scientific analysis. Noticing a gap in the existing literature, this dissertation seeks to take a holistic approach in researching the problem of the transformation of war. The importance of a comprehensive theoretical approach to the research of modern forms of war stems from the fact that this approach is used to study a new and insufficiently researched phenomenon that requires broader knowledge that can only be obtained within the framework of various theoretical starting points. The scientific analysis of the phenomenon of "hybrid warfare" represents a suitable framework for considering the nature of the problem of war, through the observation of essential characteristics as a concept, which consequently opens up the problem of scientific theoretical consideration and the phenomenon of modern war, i.e. its manifestations. Examining the phenomenon of hybrid warfare from the positions of different and conflicting theoretical starting points contributes to gaining wider knowledge not only about it but also about modern forms of war in general. The subject of research, from a time perspective, covers the period from the beginning of the Cold War to the present day. From the spatial aspect, the subject of research refers to the practice of different states in the contemporary international community, ie. to the entire international community. The research of this complex phenomenon necessarily imposes a multi-method approach and requires a complementary analysis of available and newly created data sources. Qualitative research design dominates, while inadequate theoretical foundation led to exploratory research. The case study covers a specific problem/case - the annexation of Crimea in 2014, in order to determine the cognitive and explanatory potential of the annexation of Crimea in the study of hybrid warfare. Overall, the results of the research made it possible to obtain new scientific knowledge about the phenomenon of the transformation of modern war in terms of scientific description and explanation of the researched phenomenon. Also, the research contributed to the prevention of future conflicts, given that it pointed out certain shortcomings in the application of certain provisions of international war and humanitarian law to modern "hybrid wars", and offered guidelines for the normative improvement of this area.
