The subject of this dissertation is to determine the influence of the English language onthe Serbian language and the culture of expression that comes through social networks, which inpractice leads to the emergence of the so-called internet slang. The key intention is to find outwhether there is a direct influence of the language of social networks on the use of the Serbianlanguage and the extent of how this influence is represented.The objectives of this dissertation are to determine whether and to what extent socialnetworks has the influence on the changes that occur in the Serbian language, as well as to gainscientific knowledge about the role and influence of English on the Serbian language, primarilythrough the influence of social networks; what are the reasons for the increase in the number ofEnglish words in the Serbian language and defining the relationship between social networksand young peoples’ linguistic expression.The empirical part of this thesis includes research conducted primarily on the corpustaken from social networks, the corpus taken from electronic and printed magazines and theanalysis of the corpus of correspondence on the social network. In addition, the surveyexamined the importance and use of English words in everyday speech among third and fourthgrade high school students, as well as whether teachers notice changes in the use of Serbian inoral and written expression in class.The results of the research showed that the influence of the English language, that is,the language of social networks is very dominant and reflects both in spelling and the use ofInternet slang, which is closely related to the use of abbreviations derived from English words.The results indicate that changes in the Serbian language occur every day, that is, in dailycommunication that takes place on social networks. This way of communication that isconducted in altered Serbian language, from the social networks platforms is inevitabletransferred to everyday life and becomes the way of speaking beyond social networks, that is,the dominant speech of today.The obtained results can serve as the initial point in the adoption of certain standards forthe control of changes in the Serbian language and thus contribute to the scientific community,but also to the general public. Through raising awareness among young people on theimportance of preserving the Serbian language, through education during primary andsecondary levels of education on the harmfulness of unnecessary use of foreign words ineveryday speech, but also through the introduction of mandatory Serbian language classes at allfaculties, the invasion of foreign words can be largely prevented and controlled conditions forthe use of English words in the Serbian language can be created, along with some new standardsfor their adaptation.

Предмет ове дисертације је утврђивање утицаја енглеског језика на српски језик икултуру изражавања путем друштвених мрежа, што у пракси доводи до појаве тзв.интернет сленга. Намера је да се дође до сазнања да ли постоји директан утицај језикадруштвених мрежа на употребу српског језика и у којој мери је тај утицај заступљен.Циљеви ове дисертације су да утврди: да ли и у коликој мери друштвене мрежеутичу на промене које се дешавају у српском језику, као и да дође до научних сазнања оулози и утицају који има енглески језик на српски језик, првенствено кроз утицајдруштвених мрежа; који су разлози повећања броја енглеских речи у српском језику; идефинисање односа између друштвених мрежа и изражавања младих.Емпиријски део рада обухватa истраживања која су проведена првенствено накорпусу преузетог са друштвених мрежа, на корпусу преузетом из електронског иштампаног часописа и анализи корпуса преписке са друштвене мреже. Додатно, крозанкетно истраживање испитан је значај и употреба енглеских речи у свакодневном говорукод ученика трећег и четвртог разреда средњих школа, као и да ли професори примећујупромене у начину употребе српског језика у усменом и писаном изражавању на часовима.Резултати истраживања су показалада је утицај енглеског језика, односно језикадруштвених мрежа веома доминантан и да се огледа како у правопису тако и у употребиинтернет сленга који је уско повезан са употребом скраћеница које су настале од речи наенглеском језику. Резултати указују да се промене у српском језику дешавајусвакодневно, односно у свакодневној комуникацији која се води на друштвениммрежама. Са платформи друштвених мрежа овај начин комуникације, који се одвија наизмењеном српском језику, неминовно се преноси на свакодневицу и постаје начинговора и мимо друштвених мрежа, односно доминантни говор данашњице.Добијени резултати могу пoслужити кao пoлaзнa oснoвa при дoнoшeњу oдрeђeнихстaндaрдa зa контролу промена у српском jeзику и нa тaj нaчин дoпринeти нaучнojзajeдници, али и ширoj jaвнoсти. Кроз подизање свести код младих о значају очувањасрпског језика, кроз едукацију током основног и средњег образовања о штетностинепотребног коришћења страних речи у свакодневном говору, али и кроз увођењеобавезних часова српског језика на свим факултетским јединицама може се у великојмери спречити инвазија страних речи, као и створити контролисани услови за употребуанглицзама у српском језику, као и неки нови стандарди за њихово адаптирање.
