Abstract: The topic of the drama Miracle in Shargan is the problem of dehumanization. The character of Beggar has been analysed as well as his relation to other characters. An attempt has been made at providing possible answers to the question WHY, in this drama, there is no salvation for the man. Undoubtedly, the main problem situation is based on a thesis that every human is essentially detached from his own spirituality, and therefore, from his humanness, mainly as a consequence of the influence of primarily the time and place in which they rezide(The Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, communism, socialism, modern civilization, the second half of the 20th century). We believe that the reason of the tragic faith of everyone of the Simovic’s heroes is the general social problem of all humanity, resulting from domination of material over spiritual, and, consequently, its general dehumanization.

Сажетак: У раду се бавимо проблемом дехуманизације у драми Чудо у Шаргану. Анализама је обухваћени лик Просјака, као и његове релације са осталим ликовима. Покушали смо да дамо могуће одговоре на питање зашто у овој драми нема спасења за човека. Сматрамо да је основна проблемска ситуација заснована на тези да је сваки човек суштински одвојен од сопствене духовности, па тиме и људскости, на шта првенствено утичу време и место у/на којима се налази (СФРЈ, комунизам/социјализам; модерна цивилизација, друга половина 20. века).
