Sažetak: Druga polovina XVIII veka i američki Rat za nezavisnost predstavljaju izuzetno važan period, ne samo zbog istorijskog konteksta i rađanja nove nacije, već i zbog svog značaja za književnu istoriju Amerike. Ovaj period beleži ogroman književni opus posvećen borbi za nezavisnost, slavi američke nacije, veličanju istaknutih pojedinaca u revolucionarnoj borbi, kada je reč o autorima iz redova patriota, ali i antirevolucionarno inspirisanim delima koja su pozivala na odanost Velikoj Britaniji, a čiji su autori bili iz redova lojalista. Američki dramski pisci su uzeli aktivno učešće u američkoj revolucionarnoj borbi, a ovaj rad analizira tekst i kontekst rata iz patriotskog ugla i to kroz dela jedne od prvih ženskih dramskih pisaca na tlu Amerike, Mersi Otis Voren. Pored tumačenja značaja njenog dramskog stvaralaštva i satire kao moćnog oružja u američkom revolucionarnom ratu, ovaj rad istražuje i termin „republikanska majka”, a koji je uvela Mersi Otis Voren da opiše promene u ulozi žena u američkom društvu i kulturi, potvrdi svoj autoritet pisca i borca za nezavisnost i olakša put ženama piscima u XIX veku.

Abstract: The second half of the eighteenth century and the American War for Independence represent an extremely important period, not only because of the historical context and the birth of a new nation, but because of its relevance to the literary history of America. This period records a huge literary output of patriot authors devoted to the struggle for independence, the celebration of the American nation, glorification of prominent individuals in the revolutionary struggle, but also anti-revolutionary inspired works that called for loyalty to the UK. American drama writers took an active part in the American revolutionary struggle, and this paper will analyze the text and context of the war from the patriot's perspective through the works of one of the first female dramatists in America, Mercy Otis Warren. In addition to interpreting the significance of her dramatic output and the importance of a satire as a powerful weapon in the American revolutionary war, this paper will also analyze the term "republican mother", which Mercy Otis Warren introduced to describe changes in the role of women in American society and culture, confirm her authority as a writer and a fighter for independence, and finally to smooth the path for oncoming female writers in the nineteenth century.
