Load bearing capacity of fire exposed columns
Abstract: The Eeuropean codes for building design contain requirements for the fire safety of buildings. But, in some non EU countries, as Serbia and other former Yugoslav republics, design of RC structures is still acoordint to the old JUS (national) standards, which do not incorporate any fire safety requirements. For that reason, this papaer presents the behaviour of RC structure, designed according to this standards, under fire conditions. Using the softwere SAFIR, 3D numerical analyses were conducted in order to determine and to compare the bearing capacity of multy story RC building designed according both EC 2 and the JUS standards. The differences in the partial safety factors for the relevant material properties and the partial factors for different actions in both standards, as well as the special requirements for colum seismic design according to the JUS standards directly influence the bearing capacity of the RC building esposed to fire.
