The time Arsenije Teodorović spent in Pakrac and his painting of the rstate portrait of Bishop Kiril Živković and the iconostasis for the parish church of St. Elijah (demolished during WWII) constitute anthological moments not only of the painter’s opus, but also of the Serbian painting at the end of the 18th century, both of which have had significant attention paid to in the studies done so far. The iconostasis at the church of St. Elijah was deemed to be one of the best works of Teodorović. Still, it was considered an oddity, for it was marked by a very abridged iconographic programme and a relatively small number of icons that it comprised in comparison to the typical iconostases this master had made before or after his stay in Pakrac. However, the published archive material, insufficiently perceived until now, provides a completely different context for the creation of the said iconostasis. It clearly suggests that Teodorović did not originally work for the parish church of St. Elijah, but rather for the cathedral church of Holy Trinity in Pakrac, and that the iconostasis was, most probably during the reconstruction of the cathedral church at the end of the 19th century, dismantled into pieces and partially transferred to the significantly smaller parish church, when the ensemble known until now was in fact created. An analysis also indicates that Teodorović probably painted significantly more icons than contained by the iconostasis subsequently assembled for the church of St. Elijah, which allows for its recontextualisation and opens up a possibility of reconstruction in relation to the standard thematic concepts of the iconostases within the painter’s church painting opus.

Апстракт: Рад представља осврт на иконостас Арсенија Теодоровића у Пакрацу из 1800. године, који се до Другог светског рата налазио у парохијској цркви Светог Илије. Његов неуобичајен иконографски склоп и мали број икона изазивали су пажњу старијих истраживача. Mеђутим, објављени архивски подаци указују да је Теодоровић иконостас сликао за саборну цркву у Пакрацу, а да је целина у цркви Светог Илије била склопљена само од делова иконостаса из саборног храма. У раду је предложена хипотетичка реконструкција првобитног Теодоровићевог пакрачког иконостаса у односу на његове познате и проучене радове из последње деценије XVIII и првих година XIX столећа
