The subject of the scientific research of the doctoral dissertation is the literary-theoretical analysis of the creation of the appearance of reality in the selected novels by Philip K. Dick. The dissertation is based on the consideration of theories of fiction and possible worlds theory, as well as possible ways of their actualization in the fictional worlds realized in the mentioned novels. The research aims to prove the connection between possible worlds theory in literature, advocated by various theorists (Dolezel, Pavel, Ryan, Walton), used by Kornelije Kvas in his research on the fictionality of realism, with the theoretical undestanding of the science fiction genre, as expounded by Darko Suvin. In addition, our dissertation aims to explain the literary procedures by which the appearance of reality as a possible fictional world is realized in the selected novels by Philip K. Dick. Our analysis aims to prove that science fiction contains elements of the realistic method and further develops it following the needs of that literary genre. To distinguish between the presence of the realistic pact in science fiction from the pact and method present in realistic literature, we refer to it as the science-fictional pact. The existence of this pact in science fiction can be detected in the presence of the features shared by the two methods. One of the most important is that the appearance of reality as a variant of possible worlds realized in the novels of Philip K. Dick supports the possibility of discovering paradigmatic truths about the world through literature. Moreover, it is the most important purpose of Dick’s science fiction.

Предмет научног истраживања докторске дисертације јесте књижевнотеоријска анализа стварања привида стварности у одабраним романима Филипа К. Дика. Дисертација се заснива на разматрању теорија фикционалности и теорија могућих светова, те могућим начинима њихове актуализације у фикционалним световима оствареним у наведеним романима. Циљ истраживања јесте доказивање повезаности теорије могућих светова у књижевности, коју заступају различити теоретичари (Долежел, Павел, Рајан, Волтон), а коју користи и Корнелије Квас у свом истраживању фикционалности реализма и образлагању реалистичног поступка, са теоријским схватањем књижевног жанра научне фантастике који заступа и образлаже Дарко Сувин. Осим тога, наша дисертација објашњава књижевне поступке помоћу којих се остварује привид стварности као могућег фикционалног света у одабраним романима Филипа К. Дика. Наведена анализа показује како научна фантастика у себи садржи елементе реалистичког поступка и како их развија на особен начин, у складу са потребама тог књижевног жанра. Присуство пакта који зарад лакшег разликовања од реалистичког називамо научнофантастичним препознајемо у одликама које та два поступка деле. Једна од најважнијих јесте да привид стварности као варијанта могућих светова остварен у романима Филипа К. Дика у себи чува могућност сазнања парадигматских истина о свету путем књижевности. Штавише, то је и најбитнија сврха Дикове научнофантастичне фикције.
