The goal of this dissertation is to analyse and explain how everyday life in Belgrade unfolded in the circumstances defined by the German occupation in the Second World War, in the period between April 1941 and October 1944. The research focuses on the phenomena, occurrences and processes, which constituted the everyday life routines of the people of Belgrade, as well as on the functioning of the city itself, and its various institutions. German occupation in the Second World War represented the period of great discontinuities, when circumstances of life and different habits of the inhabitants of Belgrade underwent substantial transformation. Weighted by occupational government and repression, the entire geographical, demographical, economic, political and social framework of Belgrade shifted, which had a very negative effect on the everyday life of the citizens, and their perception and understanding of the actual moment, but also on their interpretations of the thins in past and contemplation on what will future bring. This dissertation deals with certain segments of everyday life of the people of Belgrade in detail, both public and private, such as supply of food and other important goods, their health, safety, access to information, education, their enjoyment in leisure time, cultural content or sports, as well as functioning of the city life itself and city’s communal infrastructure – water supply, sewage system, city traffic etc.

Циљ дисертације је да анализира и објасни како се одвијао свакодневни живот у Београду у околностима немачке окупације у Другом светском рату, у периоду од априла 1941. до октобра 1944. године. Фокус истраживања је на феноменима, појавама и процесима који су сачињавали свакодневицу Београђана, као и на самом функционисању града и његових различитих служби и институција. Период немачке окупације у Другом светском рату представљао је период великих дисконтинуитета, када су се животне прилике, околности и животне навике велике већине грађана Београда значајно измениле. Притиснут окупационом управом и репресијом, целокупан географски, демографски, привредни, политички и социјални оквир Београда се изменио, што је веома негативно утицало на свакодневни живот грађана, као и на њихову перцепцију актуелног тренутка, али и прошлости и будућности. Овај рад детаљно обрађује поједине сегменте свакодневног живота Београђана, јавног и приватног, као што су исхрана и приступ различитим животним намирницама, здравље, безбедност, информисање, образовање, уживање у разоноди, културним и спортским садржајима, као и функционисање самог живота у граду и градске комуналне инфраструктуре – водовода, канализације, саобраћаја и слично.
