This dissertation portrays the research results of three main subjects: culture in the information environment, participatory paradigm and library as the bearer of the participatory practices. The subjects of these topics are contemporary users, i.e. audience, viewed from various angles. The purpose of this dissertation is the study of the changes that the contemporary environment, in the era of the development of new technologies, brings to the libraries, users (audience) and participatory practices in culture hence, the prime theoretical contribution of the dissertation is reflected in the better understanding of these subjects and the demonstration of their significance. The expected research results are accomplished and presented in the dissertation: better understanding of the influence sphere of new technologies on the library activities and an enhanced understanding of the importance and possibilities of participatory practices in culture, a further insight into the characteristics of the changes of user habits and a method for their observation and anticipation. Another goal was to explore the degree to which the creative usage of ICT, by library users, presents the indispensable contribution to the survival and development of these cultural and educational institutions and therefore, according to these findings, to define the model of contemporary library and indicate the possibilities for its practical appliance...

У дисертацији су презентовани резултати истраживања три главне теме: култура у информационом окружењу, парадигма партиципативности и библиотека као носилац партиципативних пракси. У оквиру ових тема, из различитих углова разматрани су савремени корисници, односно публика. Циљ дисертације био је проучавање промена које савремено окружење у доба развоја нових технологија доноси библиотекама, корисницима (публици) и партиципативним праксама у култури, те се главни теоријски допринос дисертације огледа управо у бољем разумевању ових тема и демонстрирању њиховог значаја. Очекивани резултати истраживања су остварени и у дисертацији презентовани: боље познавање сфере утицаја нових технологија на рад библиотека и унапређено разумевање значаја и могућности партиципативних пракси у култури, бољи увид у карактеристике промена корисничких навика и начина на које се те потребе ефикасно могу пратити и предвиђати. Такође, циљ је био да се истражи у којој мери стваралачка примена информационо-комуникационих технологија од стране корисника библиотека представља неопходан допринос опстанку и развоју ових институција културе и образовања, те да се, у складу са овим сазнањима, дефинише модел савремене библиотеке и укаже на могућности за његовупрактичну примену...
