Лежиште угља Ђурђевик представља источни део Бановићког угљеног басена и припада северној страни босанске офиолитске зоне унутрашњих Динарида у чији састав улазе стене палеозојске, мезозојске и кенозојске старости. Језерска доњомиоценска угљоносна серија изграђена је од лапоровито-глиновитих седимената са једним слојем мрког угља. Дебљина угљеног слоја креће се у интервалу од 5 до 25 m са генералним правцем пружања СЗ - ЈИ и падом према ЈЗ. У зони обухваћеноj геофизичким истраживањима изражена je пострудна тектоника у виду раседа мањег и већег скока који директно утичу на континуитет простирања угљене серије. Дубина на којој се налази угљена серија, у оквиру простора који је био захваћен геофизичким истраживањима, креће се у интервалу од 320 m до 350 m од површи терена. Циљ примене геофизичких метода је дефинисање позиције угљене серије у простору тако да је рефлективна сеизмика одабрана као најпримеренија метода за ово истраживање. Синтетички модел средине на коме су вршене рачунарске симулације таласног одзива урађен је на основу прогнозног геолошког профила и података истражних и експлоатационих радова. Најпре је модел сачињен у високој резолуцији која је потом деградирана до нивоа на коме је могуће извршити интерпретацију и реконструкцију угљене серије уз минималне аквизиционе ресурсе. Захваљујући добром сеизмичком контрасту између угљене серије и седимената са којима се граничи у повлати и подини, аквизициони систем је успешно поједностављен. Профили су постављени у густој мрежи, тако да је на основу интерпретације 2D пројекција угљене серије уз корелацију са доступним подацима истражно-експлоатационих радова било могуће урадити просторну интерпретацију, као и поуздани 3D модел угљене серије.

Coal deposit Đurđevik represents the eastern part of the Banović coal basin and belongs to the northern side of the Bosnian ophiolite zone of the Inner Dinarides, that consists of the rocks of the Palaeozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic age. The Lower Miocene freshwater series consist of marl-clay sediment with one sub-bituminous coal seam. The thickness of the coal seam ranges from 5 to 25 m. The general direction of coal seam is NW-SE while dipping to the SW. Within the zone covered by geophysical research, a post-ore tectonics is expressed as a fault from that directly affects the spreading continuity of the coal series. Within the investigated area, a depth of coal series was estimated in interval of 320 and 350 m. The aim of the application of geophysical methods was to define the spatial position of the coal and the reflective seismic was chosen as the most suitable method for this research. The synthetic model of the area on which the computer simulations of the wave response were carried out was based on the forecast geological profile and the data of the exploration and exploitation processes. The first model was made in high resolution, which was then degraded to the level at which it is possible to carry out the interpretation and reconstruction of the coal series with minimal acquisition resources. Due to a good seismic contrast between the coal series and the overlying and underlying sediments, the acquisition system has been successfully simplified. The profiles were placed in a dense network so that, based on the interpretation of the 2D projection of the coal series in correlation with the available data of other exploration-exploitation works, it was possible to make a spatial interpretation as well as a reliable 3D model of the coal series.
