The woman with no rights had to take a long road to become an educated one, having a job and the legal rights. That road lasted, obviously, longer than the period of this research. However, with the time passing by, at the end of XIX and the start of XX century, woman’s new position made small steps throughout everyday history to build the new social position. The result was also the creation of the new economic, social, political and cultural climate in Požarevac and broadly, Serbia, as well. My starting hypothesis in this research is the premise to study social and cultural life of urban Požarevac, considering wider period of time – The Principality heritage, the creation of Kingdom of Serbia, World War I, late thirties in XX century, with the help of the diachronic, historic and antrophological approach. My research also represents a study of this entity, throughout the prism of getting certain women rights- to appear in public, to be educated and employed. In addition ,the result of the change corpus which influenced the changes in private family life was seen through this prism . It is precisely the archival funds and collections that give us the insight into family circumstances from the previous period when they used to remain unchanged for a long time. During the Principal Serbia and general national amnesty verve, the women position and role in the society remained the same. With the national independence came women’s silent rebellion and fight for their rights- gender, personal, educational or political rights. The schooling, cultural town-life and participation in various urban organizations, primarily of the humanitarian character, were the factors which significantly affected the change of women’s identity and self-consciousness. Пут од жене која нема никаквих права до жене која је образована, запослена и правно способна, трајао је дуже од истраживаног периода у овом раду, али протоком времена, од краја ХIХ до почетка ХХ века, односно до тридесетих година ХХ века, малим корацима `недогађајне` историје градило се ново место жене у друштву и стварала нова економска, социјална, политичка и културна клима у Пожаревцу, и шире гледано, у Србији. Основна хипотеза од које полазим у истраживању је претпоставка да је могуће уз помоћ дијахронијског, историјског и антрополошког приступа истраживати друштвени и културни живот града Пожаревца у дужем временском периоду – од наслеђа Кнежевине, настанка Краљевине Србије, преко периода Првог светског рата, до позних тридесетих година ХХ века, и то као целовиту појаву, кроз призму стицања одређених права жена на појављивање у јавности, образовање, запослење, и резултат корпуса промена које су довеле и до промена у приватном породичном животу. Управо архивски фондови и збирке пружaју увид у породичне прилике ранијег периода које су биле скоро непромењене кроз дуги временски период. Током времена Кнежевине Србије и општег полета за национално осамостаљење, положај жене и њена улога и место у друштву су остали непромењени, да би стицањем независности и настанком Краљевине Србије почео и тихи бунт жена и њихова борба у циљу стицања права – родних, личних, образовних, политичких. Фактор који је знатно утицао на промену идентитета и самосвести жена било је школство, културни живот града и ангажовање жена у разним грађанским организацијама превасходно хуманитарног карактера.
