У раду разматрамо теоријско‐методолошке основе друштвеног односа жена и политике, као и развоја концепта политичких права жена. Фокус развоја политичких права жена усмерили смо на концепт дискриминације жена у политици и конкретне социјално‐историјске околности њиховог развоја у Србији у другој половини XX века. Први циклус истраживања политичких права жена хронолошки обухвата вишедеценијски период социјализма, од 1945. године све до првих вишестраначких избора у Србији 1990. године. Други циклус анализе политичких права жена везујемо за првих десет година транзиције у Србији до 2000‐те године. Кључни проблеми, који се подједнако односе на ова два периода, али из различите политичке и идеолошке перспективе, представљају дискриминација и модел учешћа жена у политичком и јавном животу, недовољна заступљеност жена у парламентима и на свим нивоима власти, пре свега на високим положајима власти и моћи, као и постојање стереотипних родних образаца у политичком и јавном животу. Из оквира социјалистичког (АФЖ) и транзиционог периода политичке активности жена издвојили смо за потребе аналитичке компарације, паралелну, алтернативну женску политичку сцену, из које се развио нови вид женског политичког активизма ‐ као коректив институционалне политике и притисак на њу. У раду се, такође, анализира политичка заступљеност жена и родна природа политичког одлучивања у парламентима државе Србије у другој половини XX века, која говори о природи парламента, где је мушкарац, и симболички и стварно, био носилац политике и политичког одлучивања.

This doctoral dissertation examines the theoretical and methodological grounds underlying the social relation concerning women and politics, as well as the genesis of the concept of women's political rights. The focal point of scientific research on the development of women's political rights has been the concept of discrimination of women in politics and specific socio‐historical circumstances underlying the development of these rights in Serbia in the second half of the 20th century. The first part of the research on women’s political rights chronologically encompasses several decades in the period of socialism, from 1945 to the first multi‐party elections in 1990. The second part of the research analyzes the development of women’s political right in the first ten‐year transition period in Serbia until the year 2000. The major issues, equally prominent in these two periods but perceived from different political and ideological perspectives, are women discrimination and the model of women’s participation in political and public life, the under‐representation of women in Parliament and at all levels of governing powers, primarily in high positions of authority and centers of power, as well as the presence of gender‐related stereotypes in political and public life. For the purpose of providing an analytical comparison of women’s political activities in the socialist period (the Antifascist Women’s Front) and the transition period, the study focuses on the emergence of an alternative women’s political scene, which developed alongside the mainstream political tendencies, and generated a new form of women’s political activism aimed at exerting impact on institutional policy and exercising a corrective function.
