Општина Штрпце је место које има бројне потенцијале за економски развој. Захваљујући повољном природном положајају и Шар планини која се простире на њеној територији, најважније привредне гране су пољопривреда и туризам. Анализа стања у поменутим привредним областима је предмет истраживања ове докторске дисертације. Након 1999. године на простору Косова и Метохије догодиле су се различите промене које су се одразиле и на област економије у свим општинама па и у Штрпцу. Бројни проблеми и данас прате односно коче економски раст, и уз значајну стопу незапослености у великој мери утичу на свакодневни живот и рад људи као и будуће перспективе. Посебно погођена лошом економском ситуацијом је млађа популација, која у потрази за послом напушта родни крај. Анализа развојних потенцијала попут малинарства, пчеларства, производње шарског сира или туризма показала је да ове области могу бити значајне у запошљавању младих људи и обезбеђивању њихове егзистенције. Уз предлоге као што су: већа финансијска помоћ надлежних органа, удруживање, едукацију, обогаћивање туристичких садржаја или увођење нових начина у пољопривредној производњи економска ситуација би се могла значајно побољшати што би за становништво значило лепшу будућност на огњишту својих предака.

The municipality of Štrpce is a place that has numerous potentials for economic development. Thanks to its favorable natural location and the Šar mountain that stretches across its territory, the most important economic branches are agriculture and tourism. The analysis of the situation in the mentioned economic areas is the subject of this doctoral dissertation. After 1999, various changes took place in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, which affected the economy in all municipalities, including in Štrpce. A number of problems are still accompanying or hindering economic growth today, and with a significant unemployment rate, they greatly affect people's daily life and work, as well as future perspectives. Particularly affected by the bad economic situation is the younger population, who leave their homeland in search of work. Analysis of development potentials such as raspberry growing, beekeeping, šar cheese production or tourism showed that these areas can be significant in employing young people and ensuring their existence. With proposals such as: greater financial assistance from competent authorities, association, education, enrichment of tourist content or the introduction of new methods in agricultural production, the economic situation could be significantly improved, which would mean a better future for the population on the land of their ancestors.
