Uvod: Starenje predstavlja fiziološki proces koji karakterišu progresivne promene na svim organskim sistemima. Poslednjih decenija broj pripadnika starije populacije sve više raste, te se sve veća pažnja naučne zajednice usmerava ka proučavanju procesa starenja. Jedan od najvećih izazova u izučavanju uticaja procesa starenja na ljudski orgnizam predstavlja praćenje promena koje se neminovno dešavaju na arterijskim krvnim sudovima. Stoga nučna zajednica, poslednjih godina, ulaže veliki napor u proučavanje i otkrivanje novih metoda i alata kojima bi bilo moguće pratiti promene na arterijskim krvnim sudovima nastale usled procesa starenja.Cilj našeg istraživanja bilo je ispitivanje uticaja procesa starenja na kardiovaskularni sistem odraslih ispitanika analizom neinvazivno snimljenih talasnih oblika arterijskog protoka krvi, korišćenjem nelinearne analize fluktuacije signala.Materijal i metode: Istraživanjem je bilo obuhvaćeno 120 ispitanika, uzrasta od 20 do 70 godina. Nakon tehničke provere ispravnosti izmerenih i snimljenih podataka, u studiju je uključeno 119 ispitanika. Prema polu, svi ispitanici su bili podeljenji na ispitanike muškog (n=59) i ispitanike ženskog pola (n=60). Na osnovu uzrasta, ispitanici su bili podeljeni na osnovu dva kriterijuma: (a) prema uzrastu u kom incidencija pojave kardiovaskularnih oboljenja naglo raste, svi ispitanici su bili podeljenji na mlađe od 50 godina (n=84) i starije od 50 godina (n=35); (b) prema demografskim karakteristikama, svi ispitanici su bili podeljeni na tri uzrasne kategorije: mlađe odrasle uzrasta do 35 godina (n=53), srednjovečne odrasle uzrasta 35 do 55 godina (n=44) i starije odrasle uzrasta preko 55 godina (n=22). Svi ispitanici uključeni u studiju su na osnovu postojanja navike pušenja bili podeljeni na nepušače (n=91) i pušače (n=28). Svim ispitanicima je bio urađen fizikalni pregled po sistemima organa, meren je arterijski krvni pritisak i izmereni su atropometrijski parametri. Na osnovu vrednosti procenta telesnih masti dobijenog antropometrijskim merenjima, svi ispitanici su bili podeljeni na: nedovoljno uhranjene (n=22), fiziološki uhranjene (n=57), prekomerno uhranjene (n=18) i gojazne (n=22). Svakom ispitaniku sniman je, u ležećem položaju, petominutni signal arterijskog protoka krvi u regiji iznad leve zajedničke karotidne arterije, signal protoka krvi u regiji levog kažiprsta i jednokanalni EKG zapis. Po isteku pet minuta snimanja, svaki ispitanik zauzimao je stojeći položaj u kom je snimanje, nakon stabilizacije signala, nastavljano još par minuta. Snimljeni signali su potom analizirani nelinearnom analizom fluktuacije signala, kojom su dobijeni skalarni koeficijenti α1 i α2, čije su vrednosti potom praćene u odnosu na starost ispitanika. Na osnovu pomeraja u vremenskom intervalu između sistole leve komore i trenutka registrovanja talasa arterijskog protoka krvi između stojećeg i ležećeg položaja, određivan je odnos brzina prostiranja pulsnog talasa između dva navedena položaja. EKG zapis je bio analiziran korišćenjem spektralne analize varijabilnosti srčane frekvencije, čiji su parametri bili praćeni u odnosu na starost ispitanika.Rezultati: Utvrđene su statistički značajno niže vrednosti telesne visne i procenta telesnih mišića u populaciji starih uodnosu na mlađe, dok su vrednosti procenta telesnih masti statistički značajno rasle sa starenjem ispitanika oba pola...

Introduction: Aging is a physiological process characterized by progressive changes in all organ systems, that affects all living organisms. In the last few decades, the elderly population has been growing, so the scientific community is focusing on the investigation of the aging process, all in order to improve the quality of life in elderly. One of the biggest challenges in studying the impact of the aging on the human body represents the monitoring of the changes that inevitably occur in arterial blood vessels. Therefore, the medical community has invested a great deal of effort in studying and discovering new methods and tools that could be used to monitor the changes in arterial blood vessels caused by the aging process.The aim of our study was to examine the impact of the aging process on the cardiovascular system in adults, by analyzing noninvasively recorded arterial blood flow waveforms, using detrended fluctuation analysis.Methods: The study included 120 subjects, aged 20 to 70 years. After the technical verification of the measured and recorded data, 119 subjects were included in the study. According to gender, subjects were divided into male (n=59) and female group (n=60). According to their age, the subjects were divided using two criteria: (a) according to the age at which the incidence of cardiovascular diseases increases rapidly, subjects were divided into the group younger than 50 years (n=84) and older than 50 years (n= 35); (b) according to demographic characteristics, all subjects were divided into three age groups: young adults aged up to 35 years (n=53), middle-aged adults aged 35 to 55 years (n=44) and elderly aged over 55 years (n =22). Based on the smoking habit, subjects included in this study were divided into non-smokers (n=91) and smokers (n=28). All subjects underwent a physical examination and arterial blood pressure and atropometric parameters were measured. Based on the percentage of body fat, all subjects were divided into: underweighted (n=22), physiologically weighted (n=57), overweighted (n=18) and obese (n=22). Arterial blood flow waveform was then recorded for each subject, in a supine position during five minutes, over the left common carotid artery, and the left index finger, followed by single-channel ECG recording. After five minutes, each subject took a standing position in which recording continued for a few more minutes, after achieving signal stabilization. The recorded signals were then analyzed using detrended fluctuation analysis, with obtaining the values of the scalar coefficients α1 and α2, which were then monitored in relation to the subject’s age. Based on the shift in the time interval between left ventricular systole and the moment of arterial blood flow waveform registration, in standing and lying position, the ratio of pulse wave velocity was determined. The recorded ECG was analyzed using spectral analysis of heart rate variability, and all parameters were monitored in relation to the subject’s age.Results: Lower values of body weight and body muscle percentage were found in the elderly population compared to younger ones, while the body fat percentage increased significantly with the aging in both, males ane females.
