Petrović, Mihailo
PhD thesis of famous Serbian mathematician Mihailo Petrovic (Mika Alas). Mihailo Petrovic (1868-1943) was Serbian mathematician and inventor, professor at Belgrade University, an academic of Serbian Royal Academy, fisherman, writer, publicist, musician. He got a degree in mathematical sciences from Sorbonne University in 1891, and a degree in physical sciences in 1893. Mihailo Petrovic defended his PhD thesis at the Sorbonne in 1894 received a title Docteur des sciences mathematiques (doctor of mathematical sciences). He was very interested in fishery, and thus his got a nickname Alas (river fisherman). Ninth Belgrade Gymnasium "Mihailo Petrović Alas" is named after him.
Doktorska disertacija poznatog srpskog matematičara Mihaila Petrovića (Mika Alas). Mihailo Petrović (1868-1943) bio srpski matematičar, profesor Univerziteta u Beogradu, akademik Srpske kraljevske akademije, alas, pisac, publicista, muzičar. Matematičke nauke diplomirao je na Sorboni 1891. godine, a fizičke nauke 1893. godine. Godine 1894. odbranio je doktorsku disertaciju na Sorboni i stekao stepen Docteur és sciences mathematiques (doktor matematičkih nauka). Njegov doktorat je iz oblasti diferencijalnih jednačina. Bavio se ribarstvom pa otuda i njegov nadimak Alas. Deveta beogradska gimnazija u Beogradu nosi njegovo ime. Godina: 1894.
