Hidžra predstavlja prelazak Muhameda i njegovih sledbenika iz Meke u Medinu 622. godine nove ere. Septembra meseca 622, pošto su ga upozorili da se kuje zavera da se ubije, Muhamed se tajno iskrao iz Meke i krenuo na put sa sledbenicima u Medinu koja se nalazi 320 kilometara severno od Meke. Hidžra se obeležava jedanput godišnje prvog dana islamske godine. Delegacija koja se sastojala od predstavnika dvanaest važnih klanova u Medini pozvala je u Medinu Muhameda kao neutralnog čoveka kako bi bio glavni arbitar cele zajednice. Godina izdavanja: 1618.
The Hijra is the migration of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. In September 622, warned of a plot to assassinate him, Muhammad secretly slipped out of Mecca, moving with his followers to Medina, 320 kilometres north of Mecca. The Hijra is celebrated annually on the first day of the Muslim year. A delegation consisting of the representatives of the twelve important clans of Medina, invited Muhammad as a neutral outsider to Medina to serve as chief arbitrator for the entire community.
