A doctoral dissertation about the earlier of the two Scottish versions of the Alexander romance (The Buik of the most noble and vailyzeand Conqueror Alexander the Great), written by a German philologist Albert Herrmann (b. 1870). This version is anonymous (although there have been made attempts to name a 14th century poet John Barbour as the author) and it was written in the first part of the 15th century (supposedly in 1438). It survived and is known today from the unique edition printed in Edinburgh, c. 1580. The second surviving Scottish version of the romance (The Buik of King Alexander the Conquerour) was composed by Gilbert Hay at the very end of the 15th century. Year of publishing: 1893
Doktorska disertacija nemačkog filologa Alberta Hermana (r. 1870) o ranijoj od dve škotske verzije Romana o Aleksandru (The Buik of the most noble and vailyzeand Conqueror Alexander the Great). Ova verzija je anonimna (mada su činjeni pokušaji da se pripiše četrnaestovekovnom pesniku Džonu Barburu) i napisana je u prvoj polovini 15 veka (pretpostavlja se 1438). Sačuvana je i danas je poznata na osnovu izdanja štampanog u Edinburgu oko 1580. g. Drugu preostalu škotska verzija Romana o Aleksandru (The Buik of King Alexander the Conquerour) napisao je Gilbert Hej na samom kraju 15. veka. Godina izdavanja: 1893.
