A doctoral dissertation about the poem Wars of Alexander, written by an American philologist John Bell Henneman (1864–1908). The Wars of Alexander is written in the alliterative verses, which presents one of the English versions of the medieval Alexander romance. Nothing is known of the author of this version of the poem. It was based on the Historia de preliis, the most widespread Latin medieval version of the Alexander romance. Year of publishing: 1889
