A study of Alexander the Great and ancient authors who wrote about him (Plutarch, Curtius Rufus and Justinus and others), written by a German historian Julius Kaerst (1857–1930). Kaerst dealt particularly with Hellenism and the universal history. This book is his central work in this field, although he later published his Geschichte des Hellenismus (History of Hellenism).
