A critical edition of the Jacob of Serugh’s poem about Alexander the Great, edited by a German indologist and historian Albrecht Weber (1825–1901). Jacob of Serugh (451–521), also called Mar Jacob, a Syrian bishop attached to the Monophysite doctrine, was one of the principal Syriac poet-theologians. He is best known for his impressive corpus of more than seven-hundred verse homilies. Year of publishing: 1852
