Opis (srp)

Doktorska disertacija Gabrijela Gedeona Silijea (r. 1870) o jednoj verziji Epitome Julija Valerija. Godina izdavanja: 1905.

Opis (eng)

A doctoral dissertation about one version of the Julius Valerius’ Epitome, written by Gabriel Gedeon Cillié (b. 1870). Julius Valerius Alexander Polemius (3rd to 4th century AD) was a translator of the Greek Pseudo-Callisthenes, the romantic history of Alexander the Great, to the Latin Res gestae Alexandri Macedonis. His work is important in connection with the transmission of the Alexander romance in the Middle Ages. Epitome is in the 9th century summarized Julius Valerius’ Latin translation of Pseudo-Callisthenes, and it was the principal source of the medieval French Roman d’Alexandre. This copy of the book is especially interesting because it contains the annotations written by a German philologist and historian Heinrich Christensen (1849-1912). Year of publishing: 1905
