By specifying clear cut entitlement and specific shares of female relatives, Islam not only elevated the position of women but simultaneously safeguarded their social and economic interests as long ago as 1400 years. The Quran contains only three verses [4:11, 4:12 and 4:176] which give specific details of inheritance shares. Using the information in these verses together with thetraditions of the Prophet Muhammad as well as methods of juristic reasoning, the Muslims jurists have expounded the laws of inheritance in such meticulous detail that large volumes of work have been written on this subject."Allah commands you regarding your children. Određivanjem tačne punomoći i preciznog dela ženskih rođaka, islam nije podigao položaj žene već je istovremeno obezbedio njihove društvene i privredne interese već punih hiljadu četristo godina. U Kuran se nalaze svega tri stiha (4:11, 4:12 i 4:176) u kojima se daju tačni detalji o delovima imovine koja se nasleđuje. Korišnjem podataka iz tih stihova zajedno sa tradicijom proroka Muhameda, kao i metodama pravnog razmišljanja, islamski pravnici su nasledno pravo tako detaljno razradili da je o tom pitanju napisan veliki broj knjiga. "Alah ti naređuje u vezi sa tvojom decom. Muškarcu je jedan deo isti kao dva ženska dela." (Kuran 4:11)
