Ibn Qutayba, Abū Muḥammad ‘Abd Allāh Ibn Muslim
Ibn Kutajba (828 - 885. n.e. / 213 - 276. A.H.) je bio čuveni islamski naučnik persijskog porekla. Njegovo puno ime glasi Abu Muhamad Abdulah ibn Muslim ibn Kutajba ad-Dinavari. Rodio se u Kufi koji se danas nalazi u Iraku. Bio je persijskog porekla; otac mu je bio iz Merva. Posle studija tradicije i filologije, postao je sudija u Dinavaru a posle toga učitelj u Bagdadu gde je i umro. Bio je prvi predstavnik eklektičke škole bagdadskih filologa koja je nasledila škole u Kufi i Basri. Muslimani suniti su ga videli kao učitelja hadisa (Muhamedove tradicije) pre nego filologa, lingvistu i učenog čoveka.
Ibn Qutaybah (828 - 885 CE / 213 - 276 AH) was a renowned Islamic scholar of Persian origin. His full name is Abu Muhammad 'Abdullaah bin Muslim IbnQutaybah Ad-Dinawaree. He was born in Kufa in what is now modern day Iraq. He was of Iranian descent; his father was from Merv. Having studied tradition and philology he became qadi in Dinawar, and afterwards a teacher in Baghdad, where he died. He was the first representative of the eclectic school of Baghdad philologists that succeeded the schools of Kufa and Basra. He was viewed by Sunni Muslims as a hadith Master, foremost philologist, linguist, and man of letters.
