The best tafsîr is the explanation of the Qur'ân by the Qur'ân. The next best is the explanation of the Qur'ân by the Prophet Muhammad, who, as Shâfi'î explained, acted according to what he understood from the Qur'ân. If nothing can be found in the Qur'ân nor in the sunna of the Prophet, one turns to the reports from the sahâba. If nothing can be found in the Qur'ân, the sunna and the reports from the sahâba, one turns to the reports from the tâbicûn. However, nothing can match the explanation of the Qur'ân by the Qur'ân and the explanation of the Qur'ân by the Prophet. Year of publishing: 1331.

Najbolji tafsir je onaj gde je Kuran objašnjen samim Kuranom. Sledeći po vrednosti jeste onaj gde prorok Muhamed objašanjava Kuran koji se, kako je Šafi objasnio, ponašao u skladu sa načelima koja je u Kuranu razumeo. Ako se u Kuranu i u suni proroka ne može ništa pronaći, tumač treba da se okrene izveštajima sahabe (Muhamedovih pratilaca). Ako se ne može ništa pronaći u Kuranu, kod sune i u izveštajima sahabe, tumač treba da se okrene sledbenicima posle Muhamedove smrti. Međutim, ništa se ne može uporediti sa objašnjenjem Kurana posredstvom Kurana i Muhamedovim objašnjenjem Kurana. Godina izdavanja: 1331.
